Daily Watch Notes: Property Crimes in the Foothills on Wed. 2/4/15

Robberies (Commercial, Residential, Individual): 0

Stolen Vehicles:  1, on 100-block of Hotel Circle.

Crime Prevention note:  When traveling, remember where you park when you stop for the night at your hotel is important!  Park in well-lit, well-traveled spots and preferably, where you can see your vehicle.  Lock up and remove all items of value.  Remember, registration and insurance and personal papers are also items of value.  If stolen, papers with personal information can be used to commit fraud, forgery and ID theft. There are many products available to prevent auto theft if you are interested in layering your vehicle with more protection (alarms, ignition kill-switches, etc.).

Vehicles Stolen While Warming Up:  0

Commercial Burglary: 0

Residential Burglary: 1, on the 100-block of Burma.

Crime Prevention note:  This incident occurred at a vacant home.  Neighbors — we need your extra eyes on homes in your area that are for sale, empty, or if you know the residents are on vacation or business travel.  Citizens can request a Periodic Watch through the Foothills front office staff at 332-5240 — officers between calls for service can go by the home and do a quick visual check for up to 2 weeks depending upon volume of calls in the field.  Report anyone attempting to enter a vacant home to 242-COPS from a place where you are safe.

Auto Burglary:  4; two on the 5300-block of Mesa del Oso, one on 11500-block of Hannett, one on 12000-block of Menaul.

Crime Prevention note:  One of yesterday’s victims left the vehicle unlocked with a purse inside and personal papers were stolen.  Please lock up vehicles and remove all items of value when you park your vehicle, which includes registration and insurance.
