I just got a message from one of my Neighborhood Watch Block Captains in the Foothills that a neighbor alerted him that he witnessed the Block Captain’s mail being stolen this morning around 9:00 a.m.
Please take all outgoing mail to a secure, US Postal Service box or facility. If you are home when your incoming mail is delivered, try to meet your mail carrier when they are on your block to pick up your mail in person. Invest in a locking mailbox or get a post office box if you want an additional layer of security.
If your mail is stolen, file a report with the USPS and file a report with APD on-line at www.cabq.gov/police or by phone to the APD Telephone Reporting Unit at 768-2030 or in person at any APD substation (it doesn’t have to be the one in the area where the crime occurred).
I recommend these 3 APD report filing methods rather than asking for an officer to be dispatched unless you have a witness and an offender/vehicle description. Remember, report the crime from a place where you are safe and do not follow, chase, confront or attempt to detain — we want you to be safe.
