Silver Alert is an Albuquerque program to help locate adults who are missing. The Albuquerque Police Department and the Department of Senior Affairs have partnered to create this program to help find missing seniors with dementia or Alzheimer’s quickly through Silver Alerts placed with local media, police and the public. Alerts are placed on electronic bulletin boards throughout the city and through APD social media. Silver Alert allows APD to act quickly and get the word out to the public to help locate the missing person.
The Foothills Area Command had a recent case where an elderly female was missing and an alert neighbor contacted police about seeing her in the area. Our officers were able to find the missing female, bring her to a safe place for a medical check up and reunite her with her family. You may recall seeing the Silver Alerts about this missing female on the local news and on electronic billboards.
To enroll your loved one in the Silver Alert program, call the Senior Information Line at (505) 764-6400.
