What You Need to Know: Burglaries in the Foothills This Week
Screens are being removed to access open windows to homes, especially prevalent at the back of homes.
Vacant homes continue to be burglary targets. Offenders have more time and lower risk burglarizing vacant homes and often load up property into vehicles inside the garage out of sight. If you know a neighbor is gone or a home is for sale, call APD 242-COPS (2677) if you see suspicious activity or 911 if you suspect a break-in is occurring.
One auto in the Foothills was burglarized by the offender breaking into the garage window.
APD needs citizens’ ‘extra eyes’ on unoccupied homes.
If going out of town, call our Foothills staff at 332-5240 and request a Periodic Watch for up to two weeks.
Let a trusted neighbor know you will be gone. Ask them to pick up newspapers, mail and to check the front door for advertising door-hanger fliers. When these items pile up, it’s a signal to criminals the home is unoccupied.
Form a Neighborhood Watch group. Call me! It’s easy to form a group — be a part of the solution and partner with APD.
Call me for a residential security assessment visit. I will come to your home for about 45 minutes and leave you with a checklist of recommendations for your home.
